"Over one hundred years ago, a man by the name of Gol D. Roger, a pirate famous for traversing the entire Grand Line, as well as the New World, and managing to survive it all, was captured by the Marines- though some say that this was just a rumor started by the sea police to make themselves look better and that, in all actuality, Roger turned himself in. Excuse me, I'm starting to ramble...anyway, Roger was to be put to death as an example to all of what was to come if they chose to live the life of a pirate. One could call it a warning to cease and desist ordered by the World Government.
Roger was taken to his home island, what was then known as Lougetown, and taken to the tallest building on the island so that everyone would witness his death. In chains, they sent him to his knees, guillotine swords at the ready. Everyone had gathered, despite the rain, watching, waiting for the execution of this legend to finally take place. But, when asked if he had any final words, Roger did something that no one expected- he laughed. He laughed long, he laughed hard, even in the face of death...granted, some say he was going to die of disease anyway, but that isn't the point! When he was finalyl done laughing, he gazed out into the crowd, eyes wild, and shouted for all to hear 'My fortune is yours for the taking... but you'll have to find it first. I left everything I own in One Piece!'
And with this began the Age of Pirates! It was a time when everywhere you turned, a new crew had been formed, all of them looking for the legendary treasure of Gol D. It was rumored to be buried in Raftel, and, as such, a pirates true goal was to make it across the Grand Line and into the New World in order to find the surely massive treasure. However, there was one boy who wanted it, and the title of Pirate King, more than anyone else. And his name was Monkey D. Luffy. Surely you've heard of him; Captain of the Strawhat Pirates- one of the most infamous crews of his time? Indeed, he was a strange boy, according to the books. Yet he was extraordinary as well. With a crew so small, he managed to not only take down Enies Lobby, but also the impenetrable Impel Down. Indeed, he did things that most would never dream of doing.
Eventually, however, the World Government grew tired of these actions, and could no longer sit back and watch one crew take down their entire idea of Absolute Justice. After he managed to not only save his brother, Portgas D. Ace, but also halt the war they had attempted to incite with the man known as Whitebeard, the Gorousei considered him the ultimate threat in the world, and every Marine in the world was to pursue him with everlasting vigilance. But Luffy had made many friends throughout the world, and the mission of the Marines proved to be far more difficult than any could imagine.
Through with games, the World Government began to take drastic actions- actions that would echo throughout the entire world. Taking the ultimate weapons from the island of science, Karakuri, the Marines, under orders from the government, began to destroy any and all islands that had aided or housed any of the Strawhat Pirates. Buster Calls were made, and entire islands were destroyed, regardless of who may have been on them. Fuschia Village, Shell Town, Alabasta, Drum, Commi Island, and Organ as well, all were destroyed without hesitation. Eventually, however, the guilt built up within Fleet Admiral Sengoku's heart became too much for him to bear and, without any warning, he disbanded the Marines.
And not only that, but he told the world of what had happened. Word spread like wildfire about how the World Government had ordered the destruction of any island that had aided the Strawhats. And naturally, people were enraged. One by one, the Kingdoms of the world pulled out of The Counsel of Kings immediately. Without anyone left in their government, the Gorousei planned to use the ultimate weapon, the Ancient Weapons to finally bring Absolute Peace to the world- by destroying it. They would have probably succeeded, too, and I wouldn't be here to tell you the story, if it wasn't for the Strawhat Pirates. Without hesitation, they ended their trip towards Raftel to return to Mariejois to stop the Five Star Elders' plans of world destruction.
It was a vicious battle, but eventually the Gorousei were stopped and sent away to rot in what remained of Impel Down. After that, no one dared to stop Luffy and his crew from finally reaching the legendary treasure One Piece. Everyone they had ever met in their travels had gathered on the final island of the Grand Line to witness this achievement- a crowning of the new Pirate King. However, what happened next was something that no one could anticipate. After the crew dug up the treasure, which had indeed existed, the Straw Hat Pirates began to laugh, then turned to face the crowd that had gathered around them, each with a devious smile plastered upon their faces.
It was Luffy that spoke, and his words would echo throughout the world, just as Roger's did before him. 'Gol D. Roger didn't care about this treasure either, he cared about the Age of Pirates! He wanted to spark a revolution, a new era so that people could dream again! I don't care about One Piece, and neither should you! There is greater treasure out there, I know it! You just have to find it! Yes, there is a new age coming- it is here now! The New Age of Pirates!' And then, even more unexpectedly than before, the boy hurled the whole treasure into the air, and with the combined strength of all the Straw Hat Pirates, they destroyed One Piece. No one could believe their eyes, according to legend, and some even began to weep.
But no one could forget the Straw Hat boy's words, and now, in a world without Marines, pirates had free reign of the world. Granted, about fifty years ago, the late Alexander Siegfried brought about a new age of Marines to combat the ever increasing number of pirates, and once again the world felt right again. Even today, people from every sea in the world are searching for the great treasure Straw Hat Luffy spoke of, awaiting the Dawn of a New King."
